    Dimensions summary

You pay by the hour for this MariaDB (MySQL) image running on Oracle Linux 9. Billing is usage-based, so charges accrue only while an instance runs. The many dimensions are not tiers or feature levels. Each one maps to a specific AWS EC2 instance type, from small shared instances like t2 and t3 sizes up to large memory, compute, storage, and GPU families and bare-metal options. You pick the instance type that fits your compute, memory, and storage needs. The hourly software rate scales with the instance size you choose. You can change instance types by launching a different size.

    Top-of-mind questions for buyers

Each hourly rate covers a preconfigured image bundling the MariaDB (MySQL) database on Oracle Linux 9. You launch it on the AWS EC2 instance type named in the dimension. The software rate is separate from AWS charges for the underlying instance, storage, and data transfer.
The software rate meters running time only. A stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. You may still pay AWS for attached storage while the instance is stopped, but that is an AWS fee, not the software rate.
You are billed at the single hourly rate tied to whichever instance type is running. Switching to a larger type means the new rate applies to all running hours from that point, not a blended rate. Launch a different size to change types; there are no automatic upgrades.
