See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you run. Each dimension maps to a specific instance size, so your rate scales with the compute, memory, and CPU that instance provides. The software and maintenance support run the same across all options. Smaller instances like t3.nano and t3.micro suit lighter workloads. General-purpose types (t2, t3, m3, m4, m5) balance compute and memory. Compute-optimized types (c3, c4, c5) favor processing power. Memory-optimized types (r3, r4, r5) favor memory-heavy tasks. You choose the size, and billing follows actual hours used.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the hourly rate cover, and am I charged when the instance is stopped?
The hourly rate covers the Portainer software plus maintenance support on your chosen EC2 instance type. Software charges accrue only while the instance runs. Fully stopped instances do not accrue software charges, though AWS storage fees for attached volumes may still apply separately.
How does my hourly cost change if I switch to a different instance type?
Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type. Your rate follows the type you run. Switching to a type with more compute or memory raises the hourly rate; switching to a lighter type lowers it. The change takes effect when you launch the new instance.
Does the maintenance support included differ between instance types?
No. The maintenance support and the Portainer software run the same across every instance type. Only the compute, CPU, and memory of the instance change your hourly rate. Support scope does not vary by dimension. ATH Infosystems provides version upgrades, security upgrades, and vulnerability handling as part of maintenance.
