You pay by the hour for this security-hardened AlmaLinux 9 image, with no upfront commitment. Pricing depends on which EC2 instance type you run. The options span several instance families: t2 and t3 burstable instances, m4 and m5 general-purpose instances, r5 memory-optimized instances, c4 compute-optimized instances, and gr6 instances. Within each family, sizes range from nano and micro up to large metal instances. Larger instances carry a higher hourly rate. You choose the size that fits your workload and pay only for the hours you use.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
The hourly rate covers the security-hardened AlmaLinux 9 software licence and vendor support. It runs on the EC2 instance type you select, such as t2.small or m5.large. The instance's own compute, memory, and storage come from separate AWS charges billed by AWS.
The hourly software fee meters running time only. When you stop an instance, that software charge stops accruing. Underlying AWS storage for the volume may still incur AWS charges while the instance is stopped, but those are separate from this software licence.
This is usage-based, pay-as-you-go pricing with no upfront commitment. You pay per hour for the hours each instance runs. You can start and stop instances freely, changing instance types as your workload needs shift, and pay only for actual running time.
