You pay by the hour based on the AWS EC2 instance size you run this load balancer on. Billing is usage-based with no upfront commitment, so charges follow your actual runtime. The 24 dimensions map to three EC2 instance families: c5 for compute-focused workloads, m5 for balanced workloads, and r5 for memory-focused workloads. Within each family, sizes range from large up to 24xlarge. Larger instance sizes carry higher hourly rates and provide more virtual CPU and memory. Your hourly charge scales with the instance size and family you select.

What does the hourly charge include beyond the software license?
The pay-as-you-go hourly price bundles the software license with 24x7 support. Billing comes as a single hourly charge through AWS with no consumption commitment. This model suits seasonal or bursty workloads that need extra capacity only for limited periods.
Am I charged when the EC2 instance is stopped or powered off?
Hourly software charges follow the instance runtime, so a fully stopped instance stops accruing the load balancer's hourly fee. Underlying AWS storage or other resource charges may still apply while the instance exists. The software meter tracks running hours only.
How do I move to a higher capacity if my traffic grows?
Because pricing maps to the EC2 instance size, you scale by running a larger instance from the c5, m5, or r5 family. Load balancing performance depends on the allocated system resources of the host instance you select. There is no fixed throughput cap tied to the license.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

I find Progress Kemp LoadMaster straightforward and easy to configure. I also like the performance monitoring tools and built-in templates, which give me a quick glance into virtual service health and connection volumes so I can spot issues.

Progress Kemp LoadMaster feels dated. It's cluttered and needs built-in guidance for the complex stuff.
