You pay by the hour based on the AWS EC2 instance size you run this load balancer on. Billing is usage-based with no upfront commitment, so charges follow your actual runtime. The 24 dimensions map to three EC2 instance families: c5 for compute-focused workloads, m5 for balanced workloads, and r5 for memory-focused workloads. Within each family, sizes range from large up to 24xlarge. Larger instance sizes carry higher hourly rates and provide more virtual CPU and memory. Your hourly charge scales with the instance size and family you select.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
The pay-as-you-go hourly price bundles the software license with 24x7 support. Billing comes as a single hourly charge through AWS with no consumption commitment. This model suits seasonal or bursty workloads that need extra capacity only for limited periods.
Hourly software charges follow the instance runtime, so a fully stopped instance stops accruing the load balancer's hourly fee. Underlying AWS storage or other resource charges may still apply while the instance exists. The software meter tracks running hours only.
Because pricing maps to the EC2 instance size, you scale by running a larger instance from the c5, m5, or r5 family. Load balancing performance depends on the allocated system resources of the host instance you select. There is no fixed throughput cap tied to the license.

Usage instructions
(1) Start a new EC2 instance from AWS console (2) Launch Kemp VLM instance (3) Configure instance details (4) Select VPC and Public IP in network options (5) Specify security group with port 8443 defined at a minimum (6) Specify key pair to be used for initial SSH access (7) Connect to LoadMaster via SSH for initial licensing and setup (8) Change password. Default username is 'bal' and initial password will be the 'Instance ID' of the VM instance. (9) Connect to LoadMaster via Web User Interface by using the appropriate assigned IP address and continue configuration for your application environment. What do you like best about the product?
The best about Kemp LoadMaster is its network load balancing capability
What do you dislike about the product?
Compared to other ADC platforms Kemp LoadMaster has limited features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problems that Kemp LoadMaster solving for me is easy deployment of L4 and L7 load balancing along with high availability

What do you like best about the product?
I find Progress Kemp LoadMaster straightforward and easy to configure. I also like the performance monitoring tools and built-in templates, which give me a quick glance into virtual service health and connection volumes so I can spot issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
Progress Kemp LoadMaster feels dated. It's cluttered and needs built-in guidance for the complex stuff.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Progress Kemp LoadMaster solves issues with uneven traffic distribution and overload, and it gives me a quick glance into virtual service health to spot issues.
