This product includes charges for the pre-configured compliance and security setup, along with ongoing image maintenance. HIPAA-compliant Oracle Linux 10 is designed to help organizations meet the rigorous privacy and security requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), safeguarding protected health information (PHI) in the cloud.
This Oracle Linux 10 virtual machine image is fully preconfigured to meet HIPAA compliance requirements and deploys in minutes. It eliminates the weeks of manual hardening and configuration typically required with a baseline operating system and delivers hundreds of tested security controls out of the box, providing a proven secure foundation for workloads handling protected health information (PHI).
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act HIPAA sets national standards for the protection of sensitive patient data. HIPAA compliance ensures that systems handling PHI implement the necessary administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of health information. This is critical for healthcare providers, insurers, and any organization that stores, processes, or transmits PHI. Meeting HIPAA requirements on a baseline operating system can take significant time and specialized expertise.
This preconfigured Oracle Linux 10 image accelerates compliance by delivering a secure, HIPAA-aligned environment from the moment it launches. It reduces risk from misconfiguration, saves engineering resources, and provides a tested, compliant foundation from day one.
Foundation Security images are updated regularly to keep pace with evolving security threats and compliance requirements, ensuring workloads remain protected over time. This offering is ideal for healthcare organizations, life sciences companies, and any business that must safeguard sensitive health data while meeting audit and regulatory requirements.
Foundation Security has a team of industry experts with deep knowledge of HIPAA, NIST, and other compliance frameworks, ensuring every image is built and maintained to the highest security standards. AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for this hardened Oracle Linux 10 image, billed per running instance. Pricing is not tiered. Instead, each rate maps to a specific AWS EC2 instance type you choose to launch. Rates scale with the size and family of that instance. Smaller general-purpose types cost less per hour, while large memory, compute, storage, GPU, and bare-metal types cost more. You select the instance that fits your workload. The software charge is added on top of the standard AWS infrastructure fee. You are billed only for the hours each instance runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly rate cover, and does it include the AWS server cost?
Each rate covers the hardened Oracle Linux 10 software license for one running instance of the EC2 type you pick. It does not include the underlying AWS compute cost. AWS bills the infrastructure separately. Your invoice shows the software charge plus the standard AWS instance fee.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or paused?
The software charge meters running time only. A stopped or terminated instance stops accruing the hourly software fee. AWS storage fees for attached volumes may still apply while the instance is stopped, but that is a separate AWS charge, not the software license.
How is the price affected if I switch to a bigger instance type?
Rates map directly to the EC2 instance type you launch. Moving from a small general-purpose type to a large memory, compute, GPU, or bare-metal type raises the hourly software charge. You control cost by choosing the instance that matches your workload. Changing types changes the rate immediately.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
