You get a hardened Rocky Linux 8 image built for ARM-based processors. Foundation applies industry hardening frameworks such as STIG and NIST as the baseline security configuration. The software rate applies per running hour of the EC2 instance type you select, on top of the underlying AWS compute cost.
The software charge meters running hours only. When you stop an instance, the hourly software charge stops accruing. You may still owe AWS storage fees for the attached volume while the instance sits stopped, but the Rocky Linux 8 software license bills active running time.
There are no tiers to negotiate. Each instance type carries its own hourly software rate. Within a family, the rate scales up with instance size, from medium and large up through metal and 48xlarge. You switch cost simply by launching a different instance type; the change is immediate.
