Overview
This product provides Apache Cassandra integrated with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS and delivered as an Amazon Machine Image (AMI) by Hanwei. The image applies Hanwei's versioned security-hardening and optimized performance configuration and is prepared as a Cassandra node foundation for customer-designed deployments.
Marketplace software charges cover Hanwei's Cassandra and operating-system integration, application of the security-hardening and optimized performance configuration, AMI construction, and bounded node-level testing. Hanwei support and maintenance are supplementary services and are not the sole basis for the software charges.
What Hanwei Adds to Upstream Cassandra
- Cassandra and operating-system integration: Apache Cassandra is installed and prepared with its required runtime on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS as an EC2 AMI. The published release identifies the exact Cassandra, Java/JVM, operating-system, and architecture versions.
- Security-hardening baseline: Hanwei applies a versioned operating-system hardening profile. The final profile scope covers only the controls and exceptions verified on the published AMI and does not replace Cassandra application-level security configuration.
- Optimized performance configuration: Hanwei applies a versioned operating-system and Cassandra-node configuration covering applicable resource, network, storage, and runtime settings. Workload-specific throughput, latency, capacity, compaction, repair, and scaling results depend on the selected EC2 instance, storage design, data model, consistency settings, and cluster topology.
- AMI construction and node testing: Final-image verification covers instance launch, reboot, Cassandra process startup, local client connectivity, representative write/read operations, and data persistence for the stated AMI and EC2 baseline.
- Supplementary support and maintenance: Hanwei provides technical support and maintenance as supplementary services. These services are not the sole basis for the Marketplace charges.
Highlights
- Apache Cassandra and its required runtime are integrated with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS as a prepared EC2 node image.
- Hanwei applies versioned security-hardening and optimized performance configuration across the operating system and Cassandra node baseline.
- Final-image testing covers node launch, reboot, process startup, local connectivity, representative write/read operations, and persistence within a bounded single-node scope.

64-bit (x86) Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Note that the following directories may save your sensitive information, you can redefine it in the configuration file /etc/cassandra/cassandra.yaml; The data storage directory is /var/lib/cassandra/data; The log data storage directory is /var/lib/cassandra/commitlog; The cache data storage directory is /var/lib/cassandra/saved_caches;
BE CARLFUL: The memory of the instance must be greater than 2G, otherwise the program cannot run;
To verify Cassandra is running, use the flowing command: nodetool status
To interact with cassandra , please use the flowing command to enter the shell : cqlsh
Start the service of Cassandra : cassandra -f
Restart the service of Cassandra : cassandra -R
if you learn for more, please see the following https://cassandra.apache.org/doc/latest/cassandra/tools/index.html
The following example on how to access your EC2 instance Navigate to your Amazon EC2 console and verify that you're in the correct region. Choose Instance and select your launched instance. Select the server to display your metadata page and choose the Status checks tab at the bottom of the page to review if your status checks passed or failed.
