Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for this hardened RHEL 9 image, billed per running instance. Pricing is not tiered. Instead, each rate maps to a specific EC2 instance type you choose at launch. The many options cover general-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage, GPU, and high-memory instance families across several generations and sizes. Larger instances with more CPU, memory, or specialized hardware carry higher hourly rates. Your cost scales with the instance size you select and the hours you run it. You can start or stop instances anytime, and software charges apply on top of AWS infrastructure fees.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each hourly rate covers one running EC2 instance of the type you pick at launch, carrying this hardened RHEL 9 image. Billing meters the wall-clock hours that instance runs. Launch several instances and each meters its own hours separately. Your chosen instance type sets the rate.
The software fee meters running time only. A fully stopped instance stops accruing software charges. Stopped instances may still incur AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but those are separate infrastructure costs, not part of the hourly software rate you see here.
Two charges apply at the same time. The hourly software rate for this hardened image bills per running instance. Separately, AWS bills its own compute, storage, and network fees for the same instance. Both appear together, and both scale with the instance type and hours you run.
