Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for the software running on your chosen Amazon EC2 instance type. Each dimension maps to one specific instance size, so pricing scales with the compute, memory, and storage capacity you select. Smaller shared-CPU instances like the t-family cost less per hour than large memory-optimized (r-family), compute-optimized (c-family), general-purpose (m-family), storage (d/i), or GPU and high-memory (x/u) instances. You run only the instances you need and stop billing when you stop the instance. No upfront commitment applies to this usage-based model.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
You get a hardened Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 image with the GigaOps STIG Console, launched on the Amazon EC2 instance size you pick. The image includes security updates, firewall configuration, and network protocols. The hourly rate covers the software running on that one instance size.
Software charges accrue only while the instance runs. When you stop the instance, the hourly software charge stops. Stopped instances may still incur separate AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but the software meter counts running hours only.
Each dimension bills independently at its own hourly rate. If you move to a larger size, you pay that size's rate for the hours it runs. There is no cross-instance tier. You are billed only for the instances actively running at their listed hourly rates.
