See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
This listing is free for the software itself. You pay only the hourly rate tied to the Amazon EC2 instance type you launch. Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance size across families like c-series (compute), m-series (general), r- and x-series (memory), i-series (storage), t-series (burstable), and z-series. Pricing scales with the instance's vCPU count, so larger instances cost more per hour. You choose the instance that fits your workload. You are billed only while an instance runs, and you can run any number of instances.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one hourly unit for billing, and does a stopped instance still cost me?
Each running instance is billed by the hour based on its vCPU count. You pay for every hour, or part of an hour, that the instance runs. When an instance is stopped, you pay nothing for the software. You can run any number of instances at the same time.
What does the hourly charge actually cover on this listing?
The charge covers the right to use the running instance, standard level 1 and level 2 support, and the licenses for both the IBM HTTP Server and MidVision RapidDeploy software on it. The software listing itself is free; you pay only the hourly instance rate. Infrastructure support for OS, storage, and networks is not included.
If I create my own AMI from this image, how does billing continue to work?
Creating your own AMI preserves the metadata needed for EC2 to detect and verify correct billing. You still pay the marketplace hourly price, and your subscription must stay active to launch and run instances. You remain licensed and supported for the MidVision software on the new AMI.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
