Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for the software running on your chosen AWS EC2 instance. Pricing is not tiered by feature. Instead, each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, so your rate depends on the compute size you select. Options span burstable T-series instances (t2, t3, t3a) for lighter workloads and general-purpose M-series instances (m3, m4, m5, m5a, m5ad, m5d, m5n, m5dn) in sizes from nano and large up to 24xlarge and bare metal. Larger instances cost more per hour. You run the same VPN Server regardless of which instance you pick.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
You pay for each hour the software runs on your selected EC2 instance. The rate combines the software charge with your chosen instance size. Billing meters running time. When the instance is stopped, the hourly software charge stops, though AWS storage fees for the volume may still apply.
Your rate follows the instance type you pick. Moving from a burstable T-series to a general-purpose M-series, or to a higher size like 24xlarge or bare metal, raises the hourly cost. The VPN Server software stays the same. You change your bill by selecting a different instance.
You get a ready-to-run image for quick deployment. After launch, you connect over SSH using a key pair, then create VPN users with a built-in command. You copy each user's config file to a client application to connect. User setup and client configuration are your responsibility.
