Overview
LAMP Stack provides Apache, MariaDB and PHP pre-installed and configured on a Linux AMI to support deployment of PHP-based web applications. The operating system is updated with the latest patches to ensure stability and security.
MariaDB is secured by running mysql_secure_installation, and Apache and PHP are configured following standard installation procedures. This approach allows administrators to easily customize and tune the stack using the official documentation for each component. An EC2 instance launched from this AMI is ready to use with minimal or no additional configuration, enabling rapid deployment of PHP applications and web services.
Kurian provides multiple versions of this product on all popular Linux platforms such as Ubuntu, Debian, Oracle Linux, Rocky Linux, AlmaLinux, Amazon Linux, Fedora Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. For any combination of versions of product and OS that are not listed on the marketplace, custom AMI can be built, please contact us. For selected Linux distributions, hardened images based on industry standard benchmarks are also available. This software is free to use, so you pay nothing for the LAMP stack itself. Your only cost comes from the AWS EC2 instance you choose to run it on, billed per hour. Each dimension is a different EC2 instance type, listed by size and family. Smaller instances like t2.micro suit light workloads, while larger types like x1e.32xlarge handle heavier demands. Pricing scales with the compute, memory, and storage capacity of the instance you pick. You select one instance type to match your workload and run the pre-configured stack on it.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
The LAMP stack software is free, so it never adds a charge whether running or stopped. Your EC2 costs apply per hour only while the instance runs. A stopped instance stops accruing compute charges, though AWS may still bill for attached storage separately.
Each dimension is one AWS EC2 instance type, billed per running hour. The unit maps to a single running instance with a fixed amount of virtual CPU, memory, and storage. Larger families and sizes carry higher hourly rates. You pick one type per node you launch.
The stack ships with Apache, MariaDB, and PHP pre-installed and a secured MariaDB. Application setup, database creation, and permissions are your responsibility. The vendor offers help configuring and deploying applications on request, arranged separately and not part of the free listing.

Usage instructions
- mysql_secure_installation script has been run already and the root user password has been set to the EC2 instance id.
- SSH into the EC2 instance as user specific to the operating system. For CentOS it is centos.
- Connect to the database as user root using EC2 node instance id as the password. Change password as needed, and create additional database objects as needed for the applications.
- To deploy a PHP application on the newly spun up node follow the steps provided in the AMI documentation.
- Ports 22 (SSH), 80 (HTTP) and 443 (HTTPS) will be opened by default. If the web application runs on non-standard ports that needs to be opened on the security group.
