Options range from small burstable types like t3.nano and t2.micro up to large general-purpose sizes like m5.24xlarge and bare-metal m5d.metal. Larger instances offer more CPU and memory and carry a higher hourly rate. The software itself is the same across every size; you select an instance based on your performance and capacity needs, then run it as long as required.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
One hour equals one running instance of the VPN Server software on the EC2 instance type you select. Billing meters wall-clock time while the instance runs, not the number of VPN users or connections. Each running instance accrues its own hourly charge separately.
The software charge meters running time only. A stopped instance stops accruing software charges. Note that AWS may still bill underlying storage for a stopped instance, but that is separate from this product's hourly software rate.
No. You create users on the server itself using its built-in command tools, not through a per-user charge. The hourly rate depends only on the EC2 instance type you run. Larger instances handle more load, so heavy user counts may require selecting a bigger size.
