    Microsoft-stack Modernization Viability Assessment (MVA)

     Info
The Modernization Viability Assessment (MVA) is a no-cost comprehensive assessment of your Microsoft-stack workload in AWS that includes a recommended modernized architecture and infrastructure, proposed mitigation of blockers, and TCO comparison to the current state. The MVA kick-starts your modernization to license-free databases and application architectures built on AWS container services (EKS, ECS), serverless functions (Lambda), and other AWS cloud-native services.

    Overview

The Modernization Viability Assessment (MVA) is NO-COST comprehensive assessment of your Microsoft-stack workloads already in AWS. The MVA is aimed at workloads that leverage technologies including:

    • .NET Framework applications on EC2 Windows
    • Microsoft SQL Server databases running on EC2 Windows or RDS
    • Windows Server file servers and batch process servers on EC2 Windows

The Process We work with your team to understand your modernization business and technical goals that guide the recommended modernization path and architecture. Our experienced Solutions Architects perform a deep dive and analysis of your existing application, databases and architecture to develop a recommended modernization pathway, future state architecture, and a level-of-effort estimate. Modernized workloads can reduce AWS costs by up to 50%, speed innovation and feature delivery, and reduce your operational burden.

The Outcome The MVA assessment is delivered as a readout with your team, and includes the MVA assessment document that details your current state, challenges and goals, recommended target architecture, and infrastructure and software assessments. This is a blueprint to modernizing your Windows-bound workloads on AWS .

The Value of Modernization Eliminate tech debt, dramatically reduce costs, unlock faster feature delivery, and end licensing costs and audits by moving to cloud-native architectures built on containers, serverless and license-free databases.

Modern license-free platforms including cross-platform .NET on Linux containers and serverless, Amazon RDS  databases for PostgreSQL and MySQL, Amazon Aurora  databases for PostgreSQL and MySQL, and Amazon S3  bring significant savings

For some customers, even more important than lower TCO are the increases in innovation and feature release velocity.

Your Commitment The time commitment from your team can be as low as several hours, and Evolve Cloud Services typically completes an MVA in less than two weeks, at no cost to you.
