Overview
CC VirusScan for S3 is a multi-tenant SaaS security service that scans objects stored in your Amazon S3 buckets for malware and risky content. Using an event-driven architecture with Amazon EventBridge and Amazon SQS, new objects are automatically routed to the scanning backend without changing your existing upload workflows.
Each customer account is represented as a tenant, and each S3 bucket is onboarded as a connection using a dedicated CloudFormation stack and IAM role with an ExternalId. This ensures strong cross-account isolation and least-privilege access: the scanner can only read the buckets and objects that you explicitly authorize.
The service records scan jobs, findings, and per-tenant usage metrics to help security and compliance teams understand what was scanned, what was detected, and how the service is being used over time. CC VirusScan for S3 is designed to integrate with your existing AWS environment, Marketplace billing, and internal security processes.

Pricing
Pricing is based on the duration and terms of your contract with the vendor, and additional usage. You pay upfront or in installments according to your contract terms with the vendor. These charges are applied on top of the contract price. If you choose not to renew or replace your contract before the contract end date, access to your entitlements will expire.

Dimensions summary
CC VirusScan bills through three contract dimensions that work together. You start with the Basic Plan, which is required to access the virus scanning features. On top of that, usage scales along two independent meters. Scan Count charges based on the number of scan operations you run. Scanned Data charges based on the total size of data scanned, measured in megabytes. This lets your cost track how often you scan and how much data you process, added to the base subscription.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
One scan operation is a single virus scan triggered when an object is uploaded or updated in your Amazon S3 bucket. Each file event starts an automatic scan, and each scan counts once toward your Scan Count total.
Both meters bill independently and add together, on top of the required Basic Plan. Scan Count tracks how many scans run. Scanned Data tracks the total megabytes scanned. Frequent scans of small files raise Scan Count, while scanning large files raises Scanned Data.
Yes. The Basic Plan is the required subscription to access virus scanning features. Once active, your Scan Count and Scanned Data usage accrue on top of it. Without the Basic Plan, the scanning features are not available.
