Overview
CC VirusScan for S3 is a multi-tenant SaaS security service that scans objects stored in your Amazon S3 buckets for malware and risky content. Using an event-driven architecture with Amazon EventBridge and Amazon SQS, new objects are automatically routed to the scanning backend without changing your existing upload workflows.
Each customer account is represented as a tenant, and each S3 bucket is onboarded as a connection using a dedicated CloudFormation stack and IAM role with an ExternalId. This ensures strong cross-account isolation and least-privilege access: the scanner can only read the buckets and objects that you explicitly authorize.
The service records scan jobs, findings, and per-tenant usage metrics to help security and compliance teams understand what was scanned, what was detected, and how the service is being used over time. CC VirusScan for S3 is designed to integrate with your existing AWS environment, Marketplace billing, and internal security processes.
