This is a repackaged software wherein additional charges apply for extended support.
Cosmian vm is a verifiable confidential virtual machine to easily protect your data in the cloud at every stage of its life cycle: at rest, in transit, and during processing
Key Features:
Advanced confidential computing :
Memory encryption : Operating within a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) and employing encrypted memory, our hardened VM ensures confidentiality and adds an extra layer of protection, safeguarding sensitive data even if physical memory is compromised.
Disk encryption : The Cosmian VM feature ensures the disk is encrypted with a key that is not accessible by the cloud provider.
End-to-end encryption : Embracing all encryption states, our solution secures data processing, ensuring protection throughout its lifecycle.
Environment verifiability :
Software installation and snapshot verification: Install any Linux software and verify smooth operation before snapshotting. The snapshot, generated by the onboard Service Agent, captures hardware, boot sequence, and installed software with unique signatures.
Secured deployment in the cloud: Once deployed in the cloud, your machine runs securely, enabling users to access and utilize software with confidence.
Continuous monitoring and verification : Administrators can check boot, running software integrity, and absence of unauthorized changes, maintaining machine state consistency.

AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour for each running instance, with no upfront commitment. The rate depends on which AWS instance type you choose to run this confidential virtual machine. The options fall into three families: c6a for compute-focused workloads, m6a for balanced workloads, and r6a for memory-focused workloads. Within each family, you pick a size from xlarge up to metal (bare metal). Larger sizes provide more CPU and memory and bill at higher hourly rates. Your total cost scales with the size and number of hours each instance runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I actually get for the hourly rate on each instance type?
You get a confidential virtual machine running a hardened Ubuntu 24.04 Linux image on AMD SEV-SNP hardware. One unit is one running instance of the chosen AWS type. The instance type sets the CPU and memory you receive, from xlarge sizes up to bare metal.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or paused?
The software charge meters running time per instance-hour. When you stop an instance, the hourly software charge stops accruing. Stopped instances may still incur underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but those are separate from this listing's per-hour software rate.
Why do the c6a, m6a, and r6a families cost different amounts at the same size?
Each family balances CPU and memory differently. The c6a family favors compute, m6a offers balanced resources, and r6a provides more memory. At a given size, families with more memory or higher resource ratios bill at different hourly rates. Your cost reflects the family and size you pick.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Usage instructions
WARNING : The region east-us1 must not be used to deploy Cosmian products ! It is only present due to an AWS testing constraint but this region does not allow the deployment of confidential VM for the moment.
Make sure to enable the configuration related to AMD SEV-SNP option located in the advanced details tab within the marketplace deployment page.
Then cosmian_vm_agent starts for the first time, it initializes several components:
It generates a self-signed certificate and set the CommonName of the certificate to the value of the machine hostname.
It generates a LUKS container (/var/lib/cosmian_vm/container) and mounted it at /var/lib/cosmian_vm/data. Note that, /var/lib/cosmian_vm/tmp is a tmpfs. It is encrypted but it should contains only volatile data since it is erased at each VM reboot. Data in this directory is encrypted due to the fact that the RAM is encrypted.
It generates the TPM endorsement keys
It is recommended to configure 1. and 2. on your own for production systems.
The certificate can be changed at will:
Edit your DNS register to point to that VM
Create a trusted certificate using the method of your choice (Let's encrypt for instance) or use cosmian_certtool
Edit the cosmian_vm_agent configuration file to point to the location of the TLS certificate and private key.
The LUKS container can be regenerated using cosmian_fstool with your own size and password (to store by yourself in a secure location). It is recommended to use an additional backup disk to store the container.
You can skip all these first startup steps by setting COSMIAN_VM_PREINIT=0 when starting cosmian_vm_agent.
Handle Cosmian VM status
Once the image instantiated (on GCP, Azure or AWS), the cosmian_vm_agent automatically starts as a systemd service when the VM boots.
You can now install any packages or applications you want on the VM.
