Each dimension maps to one AWS EC2 instance type. It defines the CPU, memory, storage, and any GPU or accelerator hardware you receive. Family letters signal the profile: m for general-purpose, c for compute, r and x for memory, i and d for storage, and g, p, inf, trn for accelerators.
The software itself is free, so it adds no charge. Hourly billing meters running EC2 time. A fully stopped instance stops accruing compute charges. Stored data on attached volumes may still incur standard AWS storage fees while the instance is stopped.
The hourly rate covers the AWS EC2 infrastructure you run the software on, not a software license. You pay only for the instance hours you consume. Larger instance sizes within a family carry higher hourly rates because they provide more CPU, memory, or accelerators.
