You pay by the hour for this software running on an EC2 instance. Pricing is not tiered by feature. Instead, each dimension matches a specific EC2 instance type, so your rate depends on the compute size you pick. Options range from small burstable instances like t2.nano and t3.micro up to large memory-, compute-, storage-, and GPU-optimized instances such as x1e.32xlarge, c5.18xlarge, and p3.16xlarge. Larger instances carry higher hourly rates. You are billed only for the hours the instance runs, so cost scales with the size and runtime you choose.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the hourly rate cover, and what runs on the instance?
The hourly rate covers the software running on one EC2 instance. It includes a preconfigured HAProxy load balancer that routes TCP and HTTP traffic across backend servers. You launch a single virtual machine, and billing is tied to that one running instance at its matched instance-type rate.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or powered off?
Software charges meter running instance-hours only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue software fees. Underlying AWS storage and other resource charges may still apply while the instance is stopped, but the software licence bills only for time the instance runs.
How do I change my cost if I need more compute later?
Your rate is fixed to the EC2 instance type you select. To change cost, you switch to a different instance type. A larger type carries a higher hourly rate; a smaller one carries a lower rate. The change is manual, made when you relaunch or resize your instance.
