Overview
Imogen is an end to end platform for modernizing mainframe applications safely, reliably, and without disruption. Unlike traditional "lift and shift" or code transpilation approaches, Imogen uses actual data inputs and outputs to determine system behavior, which serves as the specification for an AI-powered incremental rewrite that results in equivalent behavior in modern, cloud-ready code.
By capturing data flows, Imogen makes visible system dependencies and logic via visualizations of batch job behavior, interdependencies, and modernization progress, helping teams make better decisions on where to start and how to proceed.
Imogen can then rewrite the mainframe rapidly to the behavioral specifications, balancing AI-generated code with humans in the loop supervision to validate logic and optimize architecture. Each new workload is tested against real historical inputs to confirm that it produces identical behavior to the original. Because workloads go into production incrementally, user patterns and business operations aren't disputed--and each successfully rewritten workload builds increasing confidence in the success of the modernization effort.
The new code is cloud-native by design, clean, and easier to maintain, which makes it far easier and faster to change.
Built by the creators of Pivotal Labs, Mechanical Orchard has partnered with Thoughtworks and Google to radically improve the success of mainframe modernization efforts for any company looking to modernize critical applications without disruption.
