Zilla Plus is an enterprise-ready, Kafka-native edge, and service proxy. It is a flexible, secure, and reliable way of creating stateless, multi-protocol API entry points into your Redpanda cluster for both native and non-native Kafka clients.
With Zilla Plus, you can also expose topics inside your Redpanda cluster via declaratively defined REST, SSE, gRPC, and MQTT APIs.
See the CloudFormation template(s) below to facilitate configuring and deploying Zilla Plus for your connectivity use case.
Once Zilla Plus is deployed, its configuration can be updated to support additional connectivity patterns, i.e. a single Zilla instance can support Kafka, REST, and MQTT clients at once.
Highlights
Flexibility: Seamlessly connect both native and non-native Kafka clients to your public or private Redpanda cluster. Declaratively defined Kafka, REST, SSE, gRPC, and MQTT APIs on top of your cluster.
Security: Integrations with AWS Secrets Manager and AWS Certificate Manager.
Performance: Zilla proxies are stateless and scale out linearly. When multiple Zilla instances are deployed, only a single NLB is required, even if there are multiple brokers present.
AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Try this product free for 30 days according to the free trial terms set by the vendor. Usage-based pricing is in effect for usage beyond the free trial terms. Your free trial gets automatically converted to a paid subscription when the trial ends, but may be canceled any time before that.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour based on the AWS EC2 instance type you run Zilla Plus on. Pricing is usage-based, so charges accrue only while an instance is running. The many dimensions listed are the same product deployed on different EC2 instance sizes and families. Each instance type carries its own hourly software rate, letting you match compute capacity to your workload. Larger or specialized instances (for example, memory-optimized, compute-optimized, or GPU families) generally carry higher hourly rates. You deploy within your own AWS environment on EC2, and billing runs through AWS Marketplace.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one billed hour cover, and does a stopped EC2 instance still accrue software charges?
Each dimension meters the software running on one EC2 instance of that type, charged per hour it runs. Charges accrue only while the instance is active. A fully stopped instance stops the hourly software charge, though underlying AWS storage or resource fees may still apply separately.
How do I choose which instance-type dimension to run, and what changes my hourly cost?
You pick one EC2 instance type to run Zilla Plus on. The gateway is stateless, so you can add or remove instances without coordination. Your hourly cost depends on which instance type you select and how many instances run concurrently. Larger or specialized families carry higher per-hour rates.
If I scale out to more instances or larger sizes, how does my bill change?
Each running instance bills independently at its own hourly rate. Adding instances adds each instance's hourly charge to your invoice. Switching to a larger instance type changes the per-hour rate for that instance. Because the runtime is stateless, you can scale instances up or down as workload changes.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
