    Overview

    Play video

Tired of using the cumbersome S3 web interface to upload your files to S3? Need a secure and reliable mechanism for storing backups? The S3 File Transfer Server has you covered.

We've engineered this appliance to be as easy to setup and use as possible. Simply create your S3 buckets, add them as tags to this EC2 appliance, and you're good to go. The server exposes FTP and SFTP for convenient integration options. When SFTP is used, all data is encrypted in-transit and at rest.

    Highlights

    • Dead-simple setup, no users to manage or brutal configurations.
    • Secure, stable, and fast. All data is transferred in-memory to improve transfer speeds.
    • Super-responsive customer support.

     Info

    Dimensions summary

You pay an hourly software licensing fee tied to the EC2 instance type you run. Each dimension maps to a specific instance size, so pricing scales with the compute you choose. Smaller burstable types like t2 and t3 sit at the low end, while general compute families such as c4, c5, c5a, c5d, c5ad, and c5n scale up by core and memory count. The u-series high-memory types cover the largest workloads. You add standard AWS EC2 and S3 charges on top of the hourly software fee.

    Top-of-mind questions for buyers

The hourly fee covers the software license for the running instance. You pay standard AWS EC2 compute charges and S3 storage charges separately. Files stream directly to S3 and do not persist on the appliance, so you avoid extra appliance storage costs. Both charges appear on the same AWS bill.
The hourly software license meters running time. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the software fee. Stopped instances may still incur AWS charges for attached EBS storage volumes. To halt software charges completely, stop the appliance rather than leaving it running.
Each dimension is one specific EC2 instance type billed per hour it runs. Your choice sets both compute capacity and the software rate. Burstable t2 and t3 types suit light transfer loads. The c-series families handle steady throughput. The u-series high-memory types serve the largest workloads.

    Amazon Machine Image (AMI)

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
