What do you like best about the product?

The single most helpful thing about Rubrik is how it fundamentally shifts the mindset from traditional backup to proactive cyber resilience. Before Rubrik, we were doing scheduled backups and hoping they would work when we needed them. Rubrik changed that by continuously scanning and validating our backups before an attack ever happens. When a crisis hits, we are not scrambling to figure out what is recoverable. The platform gives us confidence that our data is clean and ready to restore.

The user interface is polished and intuitive. It is web-based, responsive, and designed with the user experience in mind. Navigating through the platform feels natural, and the visual dashboards provide immediate visibility into the health of our backups and any potential issues. Even team members who are not data protection specialists can quickly understand the status of our environment.

The integrations are comprehensive and valuable. Rubrik protects data across on-premises, cloud, and SaaS applications from a single management plane. We have it connected to AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud for cloud workload protection, as well as Microsoft 365 for our email and collaboration data. The platform also protects DevOps environments like Azure DevOps and GitHub, which has become increasingly important as we have shifted left in our development practices. The integration process is straightforward and we were able to get up and running quickly.

Performance has been excellent. The platform is cloud-native and agentless, which means we do not have to deploy or manage any infrastructure to protect cloud workloads. Backups run efficiently and restores are fast. The distributed architecture handles our data volumes without any issues, and we have not experienced any significant performance bottlenecks. Recovery times have improved dramatically compared to our previous solution.

Pricing is consumption-based and predictable. We pay for what we use, which aligns well with our variable workload patterns. The ROI is substantial. We have seen significant reductions in recovery time and operational overhead. The peace of mind from knowing our data is protected against ransomware is difficult to quantify but has real business value. For organizations with significant data protection requirements, the investment is well justified.

Support and onboarding have been smooth experiences. The implementation process was well-structured and the support team is knowledgeable and responsive. The documentation is thorough and well-organized, and the user community is active and helpful. We have found that we can resolve most issues quickly through the knowledge base, and when we need to engage support, they are prompt and effective.

The AI capabilities are genuinely impressive. Ruby, the AI assistant, automates tedious administrative tasks and monitors for failures. It performs root cause analysis and suggests remediation plans ready to execute with our permission. The platform also includes an AI engine that can scan and catalog unstructured data in place, making it ready for data science and analytics pipelines. This is a forward-looking capability that opens up new possibilities for how we use our backup data.

In short, Rubrik has modernized our approach to data protection by shifting the focus from just backing up data to ensuring we can confidently and quickly recover from any disruption. It gives us resilience in the face of cyberattacks and operational failures, and it makes our data and systems truly unstoppable.

What do you dislike about the product?

The platform can be expensive, particularly for smaller organizations. The consumption-based pricing model works well for variable workloads, but the minimum commitment can be a barrier for smaller fleets or those just getting started with modern data protection. Some users have noted that the cost can escalate quickly as data volumes grow, and it is worth carefully reviewing the pricing structure before committing.

The onboarding process, while smooth, can require significant planning. Migrating from legacy backup solutions to Rubrik takes time and effort. The platform is comprehensive, and getting the initial configuration right is critical to long-term success. We had to invest in external expertise to help with the transition, which added to the overall cost of implementation.

Support response times have been inconsistent. While the support team is knowledgeable and helpful, resolution times can vary significantly depending on the complexity of the issue. Some users have reported delays in getting critical issues resolved, which can be stressful when you are dealing with a data protection emergency. It is worth having clear expectations about support SLAs before signing the contract.

The AI capabilities are promising but still evolving. Ruby is helpful for basic tasks but struggles with complex queries and deeper analytical requests. The platform's ability to catalog and index unstructured data is forward-looking, but it is still early days for this functionality. I have found that the AI is best used for quick tasks and simple automations, but more complex analysis still requires human expertise.

The platform's focus on ransomware resilience is excellent, but it can feel like overkill for organizations that are not facing significant cyber threats. If your data protection needs are relatively straightforward, Rubrik may offer more capabilities than you actually need, and the cost may be difficult to justify. It is best suited for organizations with significant data protection requirements and a serious concern about ransomware.

Despite these challenges, I still find Rubrik to be a valuable platform for data protection and cyber resilience. The core capabilities are strong, and the platform delivers real business value. The downsides are real and you need to go in with your eyes open, particularly around pricing and onboarding effort. But for organizations that need robust, modern data protection with ransomware resilience, it is a market leader for good reason.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

The most fundamental problem it addresses is ransomware vulnerability. Before Rubrik, we had backups, but we did not have confidence that they would be clean and recoverable when we needed them. We were essentially hoping for the best. Rubrik continuously scans and validates our backups, giving us confidence that our data is safe and recoverable. When an attack happens, we are not scrambling to figure out what is recoverable. We already know.

Recovery time is another major challenge Rubrik solves. In the past, a major incident could mean days or weeks of downtime while we restored from backups. Rubrik has reduced that dramatically. The platform intelligently recovers critical users and data first, getting us back online quickly while the full restore runs in the background. This has transformed our ability to respond to incidents.

Operational complexity is a significant problem that Rubrik addresses directly. We used to have separate tools for on-premises, cloud, and SaaS data protection. Managing all of them was a nightmare. Rubrik unifies everything into a single management plane. One platform, one interface, one team. This has simplified our operations considerably and allowed us to reduce the time our team spends on data protection.

Compliance and data governance are increasingly important business problems. Rubrik helps by scanning backups for sensitive data and providing visibility into where PII and PHI are stored. This helps us meet regulatory requirements and understand our "blast radius" before an attack. We can identify risks proactively rather than discovering them during an audit or breach.

Finally, business resilience is the ultimate problem Rubrik solves. In a world where cyberattacks are inevitable, organizations need to be able to withstand and recover from disruptions. Rubrik makes our data and systems unstoppable by ensuring we have clean, recoverable backups and the ability to restore quickly. This gives our leadership team confidence that the business can survive and recover from any disruption.

Its simplicity and automation. It makes backup, recovery, and ransomware protection easy to manage through a modern interface, reducing operational effort while ensuring reliable data protection.

The main drawback is that it can be expensive, especially for smaller organizations. Some advanced features also have a learning curve and may require additional training to use effectively.

What do you like best about the product?

Rubrik has honestly made managing backups so much less stressful. I used to spend a lot of time manually checking on things — now the policies just run on their own and I get alerted only when something actually needs my attention.

The best part for me was when I had to recover a database quickly what I expected to take hours was done in minutes using Live Mount. That one moment sold me on it completely.

It also does a good job flagging unusual activity which I didn't expect from a backup tool feels more like a security layer too. Reporting is clean and saves me a lot of back and forth during audits.

Overall it just works, and it's made my day-to-day a lot smoother."

What do you dislike about the product?

The one thing that takes some getting used to is the initial setup and configuration it's not something you can just figure out on the fly. When we first deployed it, we needed quite a bit of support to get policies structured the right way for our environment. A more guided onboarding experience would have saved us a few back-and-forth sessions with their team.

The pricing is also not the most straightforward it took a few conversations to fully understand what was included in our licensing and what would cost extra. More transparency upfront would help a lot.

Occasionally the UI can feel a bit slow when loading larger environments, nothing critical but noticeable when you're trying to move quickly.

These aren't dealbreakers by any means, but smoother onboarding and clearer pricing would make the overall experience much better.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before Rubrik, our biggest headache was not having full confidence in our backups. We'd run jobs, assume they worked, and only find out something failed when we actually needed to recover something — which is the worst possible time to find out.

We also struggled with the time it took to manage everything. Checking backup statuses, fixing missed jobs, generating reports for audits — it was eating up hours every week that could've been spent elsewhere.

After moving to Rubrik, that changed pretty quickly. Backup failures now get flagged immediately so we're never caught off guard. Recovery times dropped significantly — what used to take hours now takes minutes in most cases. And audit reporting that used to require manually pulling data from different places now takes just a few clicks.

The biggest benefit honestly is peace of mind. Knowing our data is protected, recoverable, and monitored without us having to babysit it daily has freed up our team to focus on other priorities. It's one of those tools where you feel the difference pretty fast after switching.

What do you like best about the product?

I like Rubrik because it is easy to use and offers fast backup and recovery. I also appreciate the cloud integration and disaster recovery features, which allow it to work with major cloud platforms for backup. The ability to replicate backup to other locations adds another layer of security and convenience. Additionally, I find the reporting and monitoring capabilities valuable. One of the standout features for me is the reduction in storage consumption by eliminating duplicate data. As of my knowledge, everything with Rubrik is good.

Rubrik addresses network issues, VM unavailability, and storage consumption by providing easy-to-use, fast backup and recovery with cloud integration and disaster recovery, eliminating duplicate data and replicating backups for enhanced experiences.

I appreciate Rubrik's user-friendly interface, which doesn't feel complex at all. I also found the initial setup to be easy and super quick.

If the response time can be improved, it would be much better.
