For those that have to have a Windows Server our utility deployment solution for Windows + IIS + PHP can help you get up and running very quickly. Windows 2016 is very simplistic in form, and yet powerful to get the job done. Later versions of Windows Server introduce many components that are just not required for a basic remote EC2 and RDS management.
This base stack is Windows 2016, IIS 10, PHP 8.2.x, WinSCP, Putty, FireFox, and phpMyAdmin. The server deploys with PHP Manager, Putty and WinSCP, and is pre-configured to help you manage a remote RDS server.
For those that need to administer an AWS RDS instance, the phpMyAdmin is pre-installed. Just add your RDS address and connect. [Make sure SG is open.]
Note: Use IIS PHP Manager to install and switch PHP Versions
AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
You pay by the hour for this Windows 2016 deployment with A51 Console, with no monthly subscription. Pricing follows the AWS instance type you pick. You choose from general-purpose t2, t3, and t3a instances in sizes from small to 2xlarge, so cost scales with the compute and memory you select. Two g3 GPU instances (g3.4xlarge and g3.8xlarge) are available for graphics or GPU workloads and price higher for that added capacity. You can scale horizontally or vertically by changing your instance choice.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I actually get for the hourly rate on each instance type?
Each rate maps to one running AWS instance of the size you pick. The t2, t3, and t3a families give general-purpose CPU and memory that scale with size. The g3.4xlarge and g3.8xlarge add GPU capacity for graphics or GPU workloads. You run one instance per hourly charge.
Am I charged the hourly software fee when my instance is stopped?
The software charge meters running time only. A stopped or powered-off instance does not accrue the hourly software fee. Underlying AWS storage fees for the attached disk may still apply while the instance is stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
How does this pay-as-you-go billing work if I scale up or down?
You pay per hour with no monthly subscription. To scale vertically, switch to a instance size with more compute or memory; the new hourly rate applies. To scale horizontally, run more instances, each billed at its own hourly rate. You change instance choice as your needs shift.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. Good for a Migration

We needed to migrate mysql data to RDS, and to configure the AWS RDS mysql. I had tried connecting from my local computer, but had a lot of issues. So I found this AMI on MP, followed the instructions, and was able to connect in a few minutes.
Although I had to increase the phpmyadmin upload threshold; otherwise, everything was good and worth it.
