This listing has one pricing dimension, billed per Microsoft 365 unit under a contract. You buy a separate license for each user in a domain you want to back up. That per-user license covers backup of Mail, OneDrive, Calendar, and Contacts. SharePoint and Teams backup need a separate license per domain, with one license covering both for the same domain. Because pricing scales by the number of units you purchase, your cost grows with the count of users and domains you protect.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What exactly does one Microsoft365 unit cover per user?
One per-user license covers backup of Mail (Exchange Online), OneDrive, Calendar, and Outlook Contacts for that user. It does not include SharePoint or Teams. Those require a separate license purchased per domain, and one such license covers both SharePoint and Teams for the same domain.
What drives my total cost as I add users and domains?
Cost scales with two counts. You buy one per-user license for each user you protect, so adding users raises the per-user charge. Separately, SharePoint and Teams need one license per domain. Both charges add together. User count usually drives most of the bill in larger organizations.
Do I need SharePoint and Teams licenses even if I only back up mailboxes?
No. The per-user license alone covers Mail, OneDrive, Calendar, and Contacts. SharePoint and Teams backup is optional and licensed separately per domain. You buy that domain license only when you want to protect SharePoint sites or Teams data. One domain license covers both together.
