SSL certificates are what enable websites to use HTTPS, which is more secure than HTTP. An SSL certificate is a data file hosted in a website's origin server. SSL certificates make SSL/TLS encryption possible, and they contain the website's public key and the website's identity, along with related information.
AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on the duration and terms of your contract with the vendor. This entitles you to a specified quantity of use for the contract duration. If you choose not to renew or replace your contract before it ends, access to these entitlements will expire.

You buy certificates by the unit across three product families. SSL/TLS certificates cover website validation and split into three assurance levels: Domain Validation, Organization Validation, and Extended Validation, ordered by how much of your identity gets verified. SMIME certificates secure email through digital signing and encryption, offered as Simple, Personal, and Professional. Document Signer certificates authenticate electronic documents, offered as Personal, Professional, and Corporate. Each dimension is an independent choice priced per unit under a contract. You pick the family and level that fits your website, email, or document signing needs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one unit when I buy an SSL/TLS, SMIME, or Document Signer certificate?
One unit equals one certificate. An SSL/TLS certificate secures a single primary domain or subdomain per installation. A SMIME certificate secures one email identity. A Document Signer certificate covers one signing identity. You buy separate units for each domain, mailbox, or signer you need to protect.
How do the three product families combine on one bill if I need website, email, and document coverage?
Each family bills independently per unit. SSL/TLS, SMIME, and Document Signer certificates are separate purchases with no bundling. If you need all three, you buy units in each family, and the charges add together. Your total depends on how many units you order across each family.
What distinguishes the validation levels within the SSL/TLS family, since they are priced separately?
The levels differ by how much identity gets verified. Domain Validation checks domain control and issues in minutes. Organization Validation verifies your business and takes one to five business days. Extended Validation applies the strictest business vetting, also one to five business days. Each level is a separate per-unit choice.
