Overview
AWS cost tooling tells you what you spent. It does not tell you which of two hundred recommendations is worth your engineers' next two weeks, so the report gets read once and the spend keeps climbing.
This is a four-week assessment across five levers, with every finding sized and sequenced. Commitment strategy: Savings Plans and Reserved Instance coverage modeled against the shape of your actual usage rather than a flat average. Compute rightsizing: instance families, generations, and AWS Graviton candidates, with performance risk called out per workload. Storage class and lifecycle: Amazon S3 tiering, Amazon EBS volume types, snapshot sprawl, and retention nobody has revisited. Data transfer architecture: cross-AZ, cross-Region, and NAT gateway patterns that quietly dominate bills. Tagging and showback: the allocation model that makes the savings stick after we leave.
Every finding carries four numbers: annualized dollars recovered, engineering hours to implement, risk to production, and a named owner.
