What does the hourly rate cover, and what does it exclude?
The hourly rate covers the hardened Rocky Linux software license for the chosen EC2 instance type. It does not include AWS compute, storage, or network charges, which AWS bills separately. It also excludes your application security, cloud architecture, identity, logging, and assessor validation, which remain your team's responsibility.
Am I charged the software fee when my instance is stopped or paused?
The software fee meters running time, so a fully stopped instance stops accruing the hourly charge. Underlying AWS storage fees for the volume may still apply while the instance is stopped. Charges resume once you restart the instance.
How do I pick between the x86_64 and ARM64 (Graviton) instance options?
Each listed dimension maps to one EC2 instance type in either x86_64 or ARM64 form. Choose x86_64 for broad software compatibility or ARM64 for Graviton instance families. Match the architecture to your planned instance family, since availability varies. Confirm the architecture on the specific listing before launch.
