Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you choose to run this MongoDB server. You get a pre-configured MongoDB server AMI deployed via CloudFormation. It includes automated daily backups to an S3 bucket you specify during setup. You connect on port 27017 using the database username and password you set. The vendor recommends the t3.small instance type as a starting point.
The hourly software charge meters running time only. A stopped instance stops accruing this charge, though underlying AWS storage fees may still apply. Automated backups write to an S3 bucket you own, so S3 storage costs bill separately through AWS and are not part of this hourly rate.
Cost depends entirely on the instance type you pick and how many hours it runs. There are no per-user or per-database charges. A more powerful instance carries a higher hourly rate. To change cost, you stop the instance or relaunch on a different instance type.
