You pay an hourly software fee per running instance, billed on top of your normal EC2 charges. The 14 dimensions map to arm64 (Graviton) EC2 instance sizes, not to feature tiers. The t4g options cover burstable general-purpose sizes from micro through 2xlarge. The m6g and m7g options cover general-purpose sizes from large through 4xlarge. The c6g options cover compute-focused large and xlarge sizes. Your rate scales with the instance size you launch. Larger instances carry a higher hourly fee. All sizes deliver the same hardened base image.

What does the hourly software fee cover, and what does it not include?
The hourly fee covers the StigReady Base image on your chosen arm64 instance. It gives you the STIG partition layout, SSH hardening, and a patched, boot-verified base. You bring your own profiles, Ansible, and tooling. EC2 instance costs are billed separately by AWS on top of this fee.
Am I charged the software fee when my instance is stopped or powered off?
The software fee meters per running instance-hour. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software fee. You may still incur separate AWS storage charges for the stopped instance. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
How is my hourly rate determined across the 14 instance options?
Your rate is tied to the arm64 instance size you launch, not to any feature difference. Each size carries its own hourly software fee, and larger sizes cost more per hour. You pay only for the sizes you actually run. All sizes ship the same hardened base image.
