Each instance type is its own pricing dimension. Moving to a larger size, such as from xlarge to 2xlarge, switches you to that size's hourly rate. Larger sizes carry more CPU, memory, or storage, so the rate rises with the size you select. The change takes effect when you launch the new instance.
