Overview
Effectual AWS Modernization Services transform legacy applications, databases, VMware estates, mainframe environments, and disconnected systems into secure, scalable AWS-native platforms. The service is designed for commercial and public sector organizations that need to reduce technical debt, improve performance, lower operating costs, strengthen resiliency, and create a stronger foundation for data, analytics, and AI.
Effectual leads modernization engagements from initial assessment and strategy through architecture, implementation, optimization, and knowledge transfer. Engagements begin with a clear view of the current environment, including application dependencies, database platforms, infrastructure constraints, security requirements, compliance needs, operational processes, and business goals. Effectual then uses those findings to develop a custom modernization roadmap that identifies the right path for each workload, including replatforming, refactoring, re-architecting, containerization, database modernization, mainframe decomposition, DevOps automation, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud-native application development.
Modernization delivery can include decomposing monoliths into microservices, building Kubernetes and platform engineering foundations, transitioning from self-managed databases to AWS managed database services, modernizing mainframe applications and data, improving CI/CD pipelines, enabling automated testing and deployment, and establishing modern data foundations for analytics and AI.
Effectual uses a “do with” approach throughout each engagement, working directly with customer teams so they understand the design decisions, implementation patterns, operational changes, and tradeoffs behind the delivered solution. This approach can leverage training, runbooks, operational documentation, and knowledge transfer to ensure teams are prepared to own, operate, and extend the modernized environments.
For public sector customers, including Federal, FedCiv, and SLED organizations, Effectual structures modernization around security, compliance, governance, and continuity from the start. Engagements can support AWS Commercial Regions or AWS GovCloud environments based on customer requirements. Where applicable, modernization planning can align with FISMA, FedRAMP, CJIS, HIPAA, DoD IL4/IL5, ATO acceleration, zero trust, and mission continuity needs.
Designed for organizations modernizing workloads on AWS, this offering supports application modernization, containers, serverless, databases, storage, compute, networking, security, DevOps, governance, data, analytics, AI, and cloud operations using AWS native services and platforms.
