Lightweight DICOM SCP container with S3 integration

    Overview

The DICOM Store SCP container provides a lightweight and reliable solution for receiving and storing medical imaging data. It supports DICOM C-STORE operations and uploads received files to an Amazon S3-compatible bucket, making it ideal for cloud-native PACS pipelines and vendor-neutral archive (VNA) systems.

Designed for easy deployment on Docker or AWS Fargate, this container can be configured entirely through environment variables, including AE title, port, SOP Class UIDs, and timeout parameters. The image runs as a non-root user and includes built-in health checks, aligning with best practices for container security and observability.

This product is suitable for healthcare institutions, research labs, and developers who need a modular and scalable way to integrate DICOM workflows into modern cloud environments.

Note: This software is not a medical device. It is intended to support imaging data management workflows and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

    Highlights

    • Lightweight DICOM Store SCP container for simple deployment Provides a compact and efficient DICOM Store SCP that receives medical imaging data via C-STORE and stores it in an S3-compatible bucket. Ideal for cloud-native and edge use cases with minimal configuration.
    • AWS-native design for seamless S3 and ECS integration Built to run smoothly on AWS Fargate, ECS, or EC2 with IAM-based access to S3 storage. Supports environment-based configuration for AE title, port, timeout, and validation behavior.
    • Security-conscious and production-ready architecture Runs as a non-root user on a minimal Python base image with integrated health checks. Optimized for stability and observability in clinical and research environments.

    Container image

Containers are lightweight, portable execution environments that wrap server application software in a filesystem that includes everything it needs to run. Container applications run on supported container runtimes and orchestration services, such as Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) or Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS). Both eliminate the need for you to install and operate your own container orchestration software by managing and scheduling containers on a scalable cluster of virtual machines.
