Cassandra Features
Keyspace: defines how a dataset is replicated, for example in which datacenters and how many copies. Keyspaces contain tables.
Table: defines the typed schema for a collection of partitions. Cassandra tables have flexible addition of new columns to tables with zero downtime. Tables contain partitions, which contain partitions, which contain columns.
Partition: defines the mandatory part of the primary key all rows in Cassandra must have. All performant queries supply the partition key in the query.
Row: contains a collection of columns identified by a unique primary key made up of the partition key and optionally additional clustering keys.

You pay by the hour for a Cassandra cluster running on Debian 12, with software support included. Pricing is not a set of feature tiers. Instead, you pick one EC2 instance type, and your rate follows the size and family of that instance. Options range from small, general-purpose instances to memory-optimized, compute-optimized, storage-optimized, and GPU or bare-metal instances. What does one hourly unit cover, and what am I actually paying for?
Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you pick, billed per hour. It includes the Cassandra software on Debian 12 plus vendor support. You add the underlying AWS compute charge for that instance. The instance family and size set your rate.
Am I charged when my Cassandra instance is stopped or powered off?
The software charge meters running hours only, so a fully stopped instance stops accruing software fees. You may still pay AWS for attached storage while the instance is stopped. Charges resume once you restart the instance.
How does my cost change when I add nodes to the cluster?
Each node runs on its own EC2 instance and bills separately per hour. Adding nodes multiplies your hourly cost by the number of running instances. You can mix instance types across nodes, so each node's rate follows the family and size you choose for it.
