You pay by the hour for this hardened remote desktop image, billed per running EC2 instance. Pricing is not tiered by plan or feature. Instead, each rate maps to a specific EC2 instance type you choose to run. Options span general-purpose (t, m), compute-optimized (c), memory-optimized (r, x, z), storage-optimized (d, i, h), GPU and accelerated (g, p, inf, trn, vt, dl), and high-memory (u) families. Larger instance sizes carry proportionally higher hourly rates because they include more CPU, memory, and resources. Your total cost depends on the instance type selected and the hours it runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover for billing?
Each hourly rate covers one running EC2 instance of the type you select, launched from this hardened remote desktop image. Billing counts each hour that instance runs. Each instance you launch is metered separately. Multiple running instances of the same type accumulate charges independently.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or paused?
The hourly software charge applies only while the instance runs. A stopped instance does not accrue this hourly software fee. Note that underlying AWS storage for the instance may still incur separate AWS charges while it sits stopped. The software meter tracks running time only.
Does switching to a bigger instance type change my hourly cost?
Yes. Cost maps directly to the instance type you run. Larger sizes carry higher hourly rates because they include more CPU, memory, and resources. If you launch a bigger type, the new hourly rate applies from that point. You choose the type when you launch.
