BTC | AMM Data Platform Universal Order Process

     Info
The BTC Data Platform Universal Order Process (DPU) efficiently supports control and measurement data provisioning processes while meeting IT security requirements and ensuring demand-oriented scalability in plant control using smart metering systems. It provides a centralized and secure solution for bidirectional communication between remote control users, distribution system operators (DSOs), suppliers, direct marketers, and metering point operators via the central connection of BDEW WEB APIs. The DPU enables highly automated, 24/7 processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while maintaining a future-proof system architecture. Additionally, it protects the downstream CLS management or control box admin system from direct third-party connections. The platform's various configurations allow it to adapt to the specific roles and requirements of DSOs and suppliers.

    Overview

Imagine a platform that enables centralized connectivity for an unlimited number of remote control requests and measurement data provision, handling an increasing volume of small-scale contracts efficiently and securely. The BTC Data Platform Universal Order Process (DPU) serves as a central hub for BDEW WEB API services, providing metering point operators, DSOs, and other authorized remote control users with a secure and highly automated solution. Additionally, value-added services can be offered, such as data provisioning via message brokers, while DSOs can securely integrate all metering point operators within their grid area.

With the DPU, individual contracts and processes can be managed, monitored, and fully automated 24/7. Contractual obligations are verified on a case-by-case basis and, if approved, scaled up to operational CLS management, grid, or market-related systems.

As a cloud-based solution, the DPU ensures secure processing of high-parallel demand peaks. It also protects internal IT systems, which are increasingly sensitive, by functioning as a certified security layer for OT (Operational Technology) systems. BTC offers tailored configurations based on the market role.

MSB Configuration (Metering Point Operators) For metering point operators (MSBs), the DPU acts as a central interface, connecting all stakeholders, including remote control users and required technical components. The system ensures that all incoming and outgoing communications within the WEB API processes are contractually compliant and properly certified. A dedicated contract and master data management system with necessary interfaces is in place.

The DPU also provides SLA-compliant service documentation per contract and can transmit this data to ERP systems for billing additional services.

If a valid remote control request is received, the DPU forwards it with minimal latency to the downstream CLS management system. Confirmations are then sent to contract partners and other authorized stakeholders and logged accordingly.

Additionally, the DPU allows metering data provisioning via message brokers based on contractual obligations, with billing options for these additional services. Future updates will include consolidation of competing control requests for the same metering point. Core functions for consolidation and transmission of authorized switching commands are already implemented.

As an optional feature, switching time and power curve data can be centrally managed and controlled, making future consolidations easier. This feature provides a parallel activation option for switching schedules on CLS devices.

Future expansions include proxy connections and additional services for metering service providers.

DSO Configuration (Distribution System Operators) DSOs need a solution that securely integrates all competitive and default metering point operators in their grid area for grid-oriented control via BDEW WEB API. The DPU ensures secure control command transmission while protecting grid control systems.

The DPU allows DSOs to connect all MSBs within their authorization scope and securely transmit control commands. The system stores all necessary technical and contractual data and features integrated endpoint and certificate management.

Supplier / Direct Marketer Configuration Suppliers and direct marketers need a way to securely integrate all MSBs for market-oriented control via BDEW WEB API while protecting their internal systems.

The DPU enables seamless connection of all MSBs, facilitating secure transmission of control commands. All relevant technical and contractual information is available within the system, and endpoint and certificate management is integrated.
