SMART Survey is a software tool that uses AI in a cloud environment to process video data from temporary or fixed cameras to identify, classify, and calculate speeds of 13 classes of road users. In addition to accurate entering flows and turning movements, Survey provides average speeds and speed percentiles for all road users. Smart Survey users can examine and download their newly collected data, upload historical data, and share their data with other registered users within the agency.
Overview
SMART Survey is a software tool that uses AI in a cloud environment to process video data from temporary or fixed cameras to identify, classify, and calculate speeds of up to 13 classes of road users. The advantage of the SMART Survey product compared to existing traffic count methodologies includes:
- Video data can be processed within jurisdictional borders within the AWS cloud environment, ensuring that personal identifying information is not processed overseas.
- Count data are validated to a minimum accuracy of 95% across all road users, and 90% minimum within class.
- AI can process data from temporary or fixed cameras as accurately as human counters and at much higher efficiency levels, for example simultaneously processing 24 x 1 hour video samples in about 45 minutes.
- AI provides average and percentile speeds for all road users.
- SMART Survey provides a single repository for count and speed data, and can be integrated with other data streams.
- SMART Survey has an in-built validation tool for assessing AI accuracy.
SMART Survey is designed to be an affordable, accurate, and efficient tool for processing counts and speeds for road users. It contains a number of useful features that make processing easy, provides a single point storage site for count data, and can be customised to integrate the count data with existing customer video streams.
The AMAG SMART Platform is hosted in AWS and powered by Serverless technologies such as AWS Lambda, Amazon DynamoDB and Amazon S3. AI models are trained using Amazon SageMaker. AI inference and data analytics are performed in parallel at scale using AWS Batch. AMAG is an AWS Public Sector Partner and SMART Operations and the AMAG suite of SaaS products are AWS Qualified Software .
