The hourly rate you see on Marketplace is for Apollo's support and hardening layered on Amazon Linux 2023 (ARM). Standard AWS charges for the underlying EC2 instance are billed separately by AWS. Your combined bill reflects both the software support hours and the AWS compute you run.
Software charges meter running instance-hours. When you stop an instance, hourly software charges stop accruing. Stopped instances may still incur AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but the Apollo support charge applies only to hours the instance actually runs.
Your rate depends on the ARM-based EC2 instance type you select. Options span general purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, and storage-focused families. Sizes range from medium and large up to metal instances. Larger instances carry higher hourly rates because they provide more capacity.
