Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for a virtual machine running Oracle 9 with support. Pricing follows the EC2 instance type you choose, so each dimension maps to a specific size. The t2 and t3 families cover smaller, burstable instances from nano and micro up through 2xlarge. The m3, m4, m5, and related families cover general-purpose sizes, from large up to 24xlarge and bare-metal options. Larger instances carry more CPU and memory, so their hourly rate scales up accordingly. You run only what you need and stop billing when the instance stops.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each hourly rate covers one running virtual machine that includes Oracle 9 and support. You pick one EC2 instance type, and the price meters each hour that instance runs. The software and the underlying compute size are bundled into that single per-hour charge for the size you select.
Hourly software charges accrue only while the instance runs. When you stop the virtual machine, the per-hour software charge stops. Stopped instances may still incur separate AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but the Oracle 9 with support charge meters running time only.
Switching instance types is manual — you launch the size you want. The hourly rate follows the instance you run, so a size with more CPU and memory carries a higher per-hour charge. You pay the rate for whichever type is active, only for the hours it runs.
