Chronicle Tune is an integrated package to set up and manage the low-level tuning of Linux hosts. The package is designed to be simple to install and configure, while providing powerful CPU isolation and power management, together with a complementary range of tuned kernel and system parameters. Importantly, the kernel tuning is maintained in lock-step with changes to the CPU isolation configuration.
Simple to install and configure, Chronicle Tune integrates the following:
CPU isolation, for low-latency, low-jitter tasks
Transparent control of CPU power management
Per-thread scheduling using standard calls (eg taskset, sched_setaffinity)
IRQ management
Whole-system optimisation, including SSD, disk, memory, and network

You buy Chronicle Tune under a contract priced by system size, measured in vCPUs. The three options scale with the compute capacity you tune. Small covers systems up to 32 vCPUs. Medium covers systems up to 64 vCPUs. Large covers systems up to 96 vCPUs. Pick the tier that matches the vCPU count of the host you want to optimize. Larger hosts move you into a higher tier. The tiers share the same tuning function and differ only by the vCPU capacity they support.

What counts toward the vCPU count that sets my tier?
The tier is set by the number of virtual CPUs on the Linux host you tune. Chronicle Tune counts the vCPUs of the system it optimizes. Choose Small for up to 32 vCPUs, Medium for up to 64 vCPUs, and Large for up to 96 vCPUs. Match the tier to your host's total vCPU count.
What happens if my host grows beyond the vCPU limit of my current tier?
Each tier covers a fixed vCPU ceiling. When your host exceeds that ceiling, you move to the tier that covers the new vCPU count. Growth past 32 vCPUs moves you to Medium; growth past 64 vCPUs moves you to Large. The move is not automatic — you select the tier matching your host.
Do the three tiers differ in tuning features, or only in vCPU capacity?
The tiers differ only by the vCPU capacity they support. All three deliver the same tuning functions: CPU isolation, IRQ control, power management, and whole-system optimization across memory, storage, and network. You get the same capabilities at each tier, scaled to the size of the host being tuned.
