This AWS-based ec2 comes pre-configured with the latest Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 image that is optimized for security, featuring advanced hardening measures to help protect against vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with industry best practices.
This configuration includes stringent access controls, regular updates, and robust settings to enhance overall system integrity and resilience.
Implementing the foundational hardened image can help organizations establish a baseline level of security and reduce their risk exposure to common cyber threats. However, it's important to note that these benchmarks should be considered as a starting point, and organizations may need to customize them based on their specific security requirements and risk profile.
Implementing this advanced hardened image can help organizations further improve their security posture and better protect against more advanced and persistent threats.

You pay by the hour for this hardened Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 image, billed per Amazon EC2 instance you run. The many dimensions are not tiers or feature levels. Each one maps to a specific EC2 instance type, from small general-purpose sizes up to large compute, memory, storage, and GPU-optimized machines. Your hourly rate scales with the size and family of the instance you choose. Every instance runs the same Level 2: Advanced hardened image. You select the instance that fits your workload, and billing follows that choice.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hour of billing cover for a given instance type?
One hour equals one running Amazon EC2 instance of the size you select, carrying the Level 2: Advanced hardened Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 image. Each instance is billed separately. Running two instances of the same type bills two hourly rates in parallel.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or powered off?
The hourly software charge meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the software fee. You may still pay underlying AWS storage costs for the attached volume while the instance is stopped, but the hardened image itself bills only while the instance runs.
Do larger instance types include extra features over smaller ones?
No. Every instance type runs the same Level 2: Advanced hardened image with the same security configuration. The hourly rate differs only because it tracks the compute, memory, storage, or GPU capacity of the chosen instance family. You pay for hardware size, not for added software capability.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
