Overview
The Arqit NetworkSecure Adaptor is a software application that interfaces with network devices e.g. firewalls or applications (Devices) that support the ETSI 014 specification for external key retrieval. Devices are able to make on-demand out-of-band requests for symmetric encryption keys to connected NetworkSecure Adaptors using standard ETSI 014 REST API calls. These keys can be used to test the establishment of encrypted data communications between Devices e.g. a point-to-point IPSec VPN link created between firewall gateways based on the IKEv2 key agreement protocol.
An encrypted tunnel is formed using symmetric keys retrieved from connected Adaptors. The NetworkSecure Adaptor, when deployed in Standalone or Test mode, provides static symmetric keys to Devices using the standard ETSI 014 protocol and is suitable for integration testing purposes only.
Contact enquiries@arqit.uk to learn about the benefits of Arqit's Symmetric Key Agreement Platform (SKAP), which together with the NetworkSecure Adaptor provides on-demand, scalable quantum-safe symmetric keys over the ETSI 014 interface to protect point-to-point VPN data links against quantum threats such as Store Now Decrypt Later (SDNL). Annual subscription licenses are available to upgrade the Standalone (Test Mode) Adaptor to the full-featured NetworkSecure Adaptor and access to SKAP features.
Highlights
- Simple deployment to test out-of-band key delivery for devices using the ETSI 014 interface.
- Generates 256-bit symmetric keys based on a configurable passphrase.
- Keys delivered by the Standalone Adaptor via the ETSI 014 interface can be used to test multiple use cases that make use of external shared symmetric keys for enhanced security e.g. point-to-point IPSec VPNs, MACSec tunnels, TLS client-server connections, application end-to-end encryption.

64-bit (x86) Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

Usage instructions
- Click on 'Continue to Subscribe'.
- After accepting terms, click ' Continue to Configuration'.
- Select the AMI, the software version and region, and click the 'Continue to Launch' button
- Use either the 'Launch from Website' option or 'Launch with EC2 Console' option (for more granular configuration options) to complete the deployment of the NetworkSecure Standalone Adaptor.
- Select the desired instance type (t3.small).
- Select your desired VPV environment in the 'VPC' pull-down menu.
- Select your desired IP subnet in the 'Subnet' pull-down menu.
- Review 'Security Group' settings. The Adaptor receives key requests over the ETSI 014 interface which uses https over port 443.
- Key Pair settings: either select an existing key pair to use for authentication or create a new key pair. If you create a new key pair, make sure to downlaod and save the private key.
- Confirm storage requirements (default is 8 GiB gp2).
- Review information and click 'Launch'.
- From the AWS Console, wiat for your instance to indicate a state of 'running'. It may take a few moments after that point before you can connect to your NetworkSecure instance using the default user 'netsecure-test'.
- Connect to your instance using a SSH client, and the private SSH key selected or created ealier in these steps.
- Once logged in, follow the instructions in 'Standalone Adaptor Setup and Configuration' within the Arqit NetworkSecure Standalone Adaptor (Test Mode) Installation Guide to configure and start using the Adaptor. https://arqit.uk/resources/arqit-networksecure-standalone-adaptor
