You pay by the hour for the EC2 instance size you run. Each dimension maps to one AWS instance type, so your rate follows the compute resources you pick. Options span the t2, t3, and t3a burstable families and the m3, m4, m5, m5a, m5ad, m5d, m5dn, and m5n general-purpose families. Sizes range from nano and micro up to 24xlarge and bare-metal builds. Larger instances add CPU, memory, and network capacity, so the hourly rate rises with instance size. You choose the instance that fits your workload and pay only for hours used.

Each instance runs the OpenClaw AI Agent Gateway pre-installed on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. You connect over SSH, run the setup script, and access the gateway through a browser using a local SSH tunnel on port 18789. The hourly rate covers this prepared software image on your chosen instance type.
Hourly software charges apply only while the instance runs. A stopped instance does not accrue the per-hour software rate. AWS may still bill underlying resources like attached storage while the instance is stopped. Restarting the instance resumes the hourly software charge.
No. You can connect your own AI provider key through the onboarding command, but that key is billed separately by that provider. The hourly rate here covers only the instance and the gateway software, not any external API usage you configure.
