Omnissa Horizon Cloud Service - next-gen is a modern cloud-first, multi-cloud Desktop as a Service (DaaS) deployment with Thin Edge Infrastructure. The service provides you with a global view of your desktops and applications spanning across on-premises and cloud environments. Regardless of the location of your desktop and application deployments, Horizon Cloud Service enables you to consistently manage and monitor them.
Omnissa Horizon Cloud Service - next-gen provides global administration of all your desktops and applications that are hosted on different on-premises and cloud environments. VMware hosts the Horizon Cloud Control Plane, which runs the central management of remote desktops and applications in your public cloud environment.
Highlights
Lower cost: The "thin-edge" architecture reduces the footprint of the Horizon infrastructure that resides in your public cloud subscription. Horizon Cloud next-gen moves many of infrastructure components to the Omnissa-managed Horizon Control Plane and introduces the Horizon Edge, which consists of a single Edge Gateway and a variable number of UAGs that scales up and down as needed. This results in an infrastructure cost savings of up to 78%!
Advanced Automation: Horizon Cloud next-gen is API-driven, which means everything that is available through the Horizon Universal Console admin interface will be accessible via APIs. This means they will be accessible to third-party ISVs (think ticketing or monitoring), partners (for building managed service offerings or Day 2 management services), and customers (for integrating with your own automation workflows). Omnissa partners have been building services around Horizon Cloud next-gen.
Blast Extreme: Omnissa Horizon® Blast Extreme is a display protocol built by Omnissa to deliver an immersive, feature-rich experience for end users across devices, locations, media, and network connections. Horizon Blast Extreme is included with Omnissa Horizon® Cloud Service, which provide the latest generation of Horizon desktop virtualization and remote application-delivery software.

Pricing is based on the duration and terms of your contract with the vendor. This entitles you to a specified quantity of use for the contract duration. If you choose not to renew or replace your contract before it ends, access to these entitlements will expire.

Horizon Cloud uses a single pricing dimension based on the number of users who access virtual desktops. You buy under a contract commitment, and your cost scales directly with the count of licensed users. There are no separate tiers, instance sizes, or usage add-ons in this listing. To add capacity, you increase the user count; to reduce it, you lower that count at renewal. This per-user model covers cloud-based desktop and app delivery managed from a central control plane across on-premises, public cloud, and hybrid environments.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What counts as one user for billing purposes?
A user is one person licensed to access virtual desktops and hosted apps through the service. You are billed on the count of licensed users, not on active sessions or the number of devices each person connects from. Each named user accessing desktops counts as one.
Does the user count cover deployments across on-premises, public cloud, and hybrid environments?
Yes. The per-user license covers desktop and app delivery managed from a central control plane. You can deploy on-premises, in public clouds, or in hybrid setups. The same licensed users can access desktops across these environments without a separate charge per environment.
How does my cost change if I add or remove users during the contract?
Your cost scales directly with the licensed user count under your contract commitment. To add capacity, you raise the user count. Reducing the count typically applies at renewal rather than mid-term. Contact the vendor to confirm mid-term adjustment options for your agreement.
