Software charges apply per running instance-hour. A stopped instance does not accrue hourly software charges. Underlying AWS storage for that instance may still bill separately. The software meter counts only the hours each instance actually runs, so idle or standby instances that are fully stopped stop the hourly software charge.
What am I paying for with this listing versus the authoring system?
This listing covers the Delivery subsystem, which serves published content to your site visitors. CrafterCMS uses a decoupled architecture with separate Authoring and Delivery subsystems. Delivery handles dynamic content serving to your audience. If you need content creation and editing tools, that is a separate Authoring subsystem, not billed by this listing.
What determines which instance size I should pick and how does cost scale?
You pick based on traffic, performance, and scaling needs. General-purpose and compute-optimized families are offered in sizes from xlarge up to 4xlarge.
