Amazon Linux 2 (AL2) is an older version, and while Amazon Linux 2023 (AL2023) is available, it does not support Amazon DCV. Due to this limitation, the latest Secure Desktop is provided with Rocky Linux 8, ensuring compatibility and enhanced security for remote desktop environments.

Quick Usage Summary Subscribe & Launch: Subscribe to the AWS Marketplace product and launch an instance. Access Web Interface: Open a browser and go to https://<Public IPv4 Address>. Login to NGINX: Use default credentials (admin). Set Rocky User Password: After authentication, set a new password for the rocky user. Open RStudio Click Activities Firefox and then navigate to http://localhost:8787Â . Login to RStudio: Use rocky as the username and the password set earlier. Start Using RStudio: You will be directed to the RStudio homepage.
Additional Notes Persistent Data: Ensure you attach an EBS volume for persistent data storage. Security Best Practices: Change the default admin password immediately after first login. Firewall and Security Group: Ensure inbound rules allow access only to trusted users. Performance Considerations: If running heavy computations in RStudio, consider using a larger instance type.
