Payment Platform: Credit and Debit Processing Fee (2.5% list price percentage rate is applied to the transaction dollar amount to determine the fee per transaction)
You pay per transaction, with two fee layers that combine on each payment. First, you choose a service category that matches the transaction type: Professional/Business Licensing, DMV & Driver License, Records Order, Tax Services, Utility Account Services, or Court Fees and Citations. Each category carries its own per-transaction charge. Second, a processing fee applies on top: ACH is a flat per-transaction fee, while Credit and Debit uses a 2.5% rate applied to the payment dollar amount. Your total per payment equals the service charge plus the applicable processing fee.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
How does the Credit and Debit processing fee differ from the ACH fee on my bill?
The Credit and Debit fee is 2.5% of the payment dollar amount, so it scales with each transaction size. The ACH fee is a flat amount per transaction, regardless of payment size. ACH is a lower-cost option for larger transactions like property tax bills.
What counts as one transaction for the service category charges?
One transaction is a single resident payment for a specific government service, such as a vehicle registration, a records order, or a tax payment. Each payment triggers one service category charge plus one processing fee. If a resident pays multiple bills in one cart, each obligation counts separately.
Which fee usually drives the larger portion of my cost per payment?
Both fees apply to every payment. For card payments, the 2.5% Credit and Debit fee grows with payment size, so it often dominates on larger bills. The service category charge is a fixed per-transaction amount. For ACH payments, both fees are flat per transaction.
