Fine Wine Vintage Index (FWVI): wine market data
The Fine Wine Vintage Index (FWVI) tracks how fine wine performs by vintage year, the single factor that academic wine economists identify as the dominant driver of long-run price (Ashenfelter, Predicting the Quality and Prices of Bordeaux Wine). It lets you compare vintages on a consistent methodology and see which are appreciating.
The index is built on ALT/FNDATA's fine wine sales data (over 760,000 vintage-dated priced lots across 290+ auction houses since 1998, spanning more than 120 vintages), drawn from auction houses, online marketplaces and specialist sales worldwide. Index values come in JSON, CSV and SQL table formats and update daily.
