You pay by the hour based on the ARM-based EC2 instance type you run. Each dimension maps to a specific Graviton instance size, from small shared instances like t4g.nano up through large and bare-metal types like r8gd.metal-48xl. The software rate is the same product; only the underlying compute size changes. Larger instances with more CPU, memory, or storage carry a higher hourly rate. You choose the instance that matches your traffic and performance needs, then scale up or out by picking a different size. No upfront commitment applies to this usage-based billing.

What do I get with this hourly rate beyond the compute instance itself?
You get HAProxy Enterprise software running on an ARM Graviton instance. This adds enterprise features to the open-source core: a next-generation WAF, DDoS protection, bot management, UDP load balancing, and 24/7 expert support. The hourly software rate covers the load balancer; the EC2 compute is billed separately by AWS.
Am I charged the software rate when the instance is stopped or paused?
The hourly software charge applies only while the instance runs. A stopped instance does not accrue the HAProxy Enterprise software fee. You may still pay underlying AWS storage costs for the stopped instance's volumes, but those are separate from this listing's per-hour software rate.
Does the software price change between instance sizes, or only the compute cost?
You pay one hourly rate per instance that bundles both the software and compute. Larger Graviton instances with more CPU, memory, or storage carry a higher hourly rate. The HAProxy Enterprise product is identical across all sizes; only the underlying compute capacity, and therefore the rate, differs.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Launching AMI: Deploy the HAProxy Enterprise AMI using the instance size of your choice. We recommend choosing an instance with at least 2 CPUs and with at least 8 GB RAM. Select the instance size, agree to the subscription terms, and follow the AMI configuration instructions.
Connecting to Instance: Once the AMI has been launched and fully booted (instance is being shown as healthy) you can connect to it using the SSH key pair that you selected while launching the instance.
Use the following command to connect to the instance depending upon the operating system that you selected. Please make note of the instance IP and connect either through private IP (from bastion host) or through public IP (EIP):
Ubuntu: ssh -i <private key> ubuntu@<ec2 IP>
Red Hat Enterprise Linux: ssh -i <private key> ec2-user@<ec2 IP>
Starting and Managing the service: The HAProxy Enterprise service will automatically run upon initialization. You can manage the process using systemctl.
