Smaller instances like medium and large sizes cost less per hour than large multi-core and bare-metal types such as metal-48xl. Options span general purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, and high-performance families. Choose the instance that matches your compute, memory, and storage needs. Software support from Citadel bundles into the hourly rate alongside the EC2 infrastructure charge.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each dimension bills one running EC2 instance of that ARM-based Graviton size per hour. The rate covers the hardened, PCI-compliant Rocky Linux 9 image plus Citadel support. You pick one instance type; that instance's running hours drive your software charge.
The software rate meters running hours only. A stopped instance does not accrue this hourly software charge. Underlying AWS storage fees for the volume may still apply while the instance is stopped, but those are separate from the Citadel software rate.
Each instance type carries its own hourly rate. Moving from a medium or large size to a larger multi-core or metal type raises the per-hour charge. Cost is not automatic; you launch the instance type you choose, and the rate follows that selection.

How to connect to the VM:
To connect to your instance, the use of SSH via port 22 is necessary. The default username for establishing this connection is rocky. The advanced security measures might restrict some functionalities or require additional actions for certain operations due to its hardened nature. Should any issues arise, we recommend reaching out to the software provider for further assistance.

-To ensure optimal performance, it's advised that you perform updates routinely alongside adopting newly released versions from Citadel.
