Overview
The Belfort FHE Accelerator enables fast, cheap, and energy-efficient computations on encrypted data using Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE). The algorithms and infrastructure are tailor-made to speed-up the open-source TFHE-rs library. The accelerator is designed for deployment on AWS EC F2 instances, where it offloads expensive FHE calculations. Thus, applications with highly sensitive data are enabled through computation on encrypted data (COED). Example industries that require such applications are health care, financial industries and legal companies.
Notes:
- No hardware device is sold, bundled, or distributed as part of this software listing
- This product extends the functionality of Zama's TFHE-rs and without it, this product has very limited utility. For development, research, prototyping and experimentation, this AMI works out-of-the box. However, note that TFHE-rs requires a license for commercial purposes.
You can find more information for setting up the environment on the following GitHub repository: https://github.com/belfortlabs/hello-fpgaÂ
Highlights
- Performance: Achieving 10x to 100x speedups for integer and boolean operations on encrypted data.
- Cost Efficiency: Superior price/performance compared to CPU- and GPU-based instances.
- Ease of Use: Seamlessly integrates with the TFHE-rs library.

Amazon Machine Image (AMI)
An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
Version release notes
Updated support for F2 instances.
