Overview
Move from AI insight to governed airlines action. Kyndryl AI Orchestration for Business - Airlines - Focused Deployment is a bounded 12-week engagement that turns one priority airline operations, customer-journey or asset decision workflow into a production-oriented operating pattern. Kyndryl connects information, people, AI and existing systems so airlines can detect important signals, recommend a response, route decisions to accountable owners and initiate approved actions with traceability. AI recommends; humans govern; policy and decision rights determine what is allowed.
Start with one decision that matters. The Focused Deployment covers one priority process and one primary use case, with up to three source systems. Candidates include irregular-operations recovery; crew recovery and scheduling exceptions; aircraft-turn coordination; TechOps maintenance events; baggage recovery; customer reaccommodation and communications; cargo or capacity exceptions; or another agreed workflow. Kyndryl establishes the current-state baseline, maps decision latency and handoffs, defines the future-state human-and-AI workflow and aligns the work to measurable business and control KPIs.
Build the governed workflow on AWS. The architecture is tailored to the customer's AWS environment, security requirements, data estate and platforms. Depending on the design, Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore can support AI and agentic capabilities; Amazon EventBridge and APIs can ingest operational signals; AWS Step Functions can coordinate workflows and approvals; AWS Lambda or Amazon ECS can support integration services; and Amazon CloudWatch, AWS CloudTrail, AWS Key Management Service and Amazon S3 can support monitoring, security, traceability and evidence. Kyndryl Bridge or approved observability sources can add operational context.
Design the operating model, not just the agents. Kyndryl combines airline operations, employee and customer experience design, Human Systems Architecture, data and integration engineering, agentic AI engineering, security, cloud and enterprise delivery discipline. Kyndryl and the customer define who decides, what AI can recommend, which actions require approval, the thresholds and policy boundaries, how exceptions escalate and what evidence is captured. The result is a governed workflow designed around accountable roles across operations control, dispatch, crew, airport operations, TechOps, baggage, cargo and customer care, rather than an isolated AI pilot or dashboard.
Deliver the Focused Deployment in three stages. Weeks 1-4 establish readiness, the KPI baseline, future-state workflow, decision rights and data/integration inventory. Weeks 5-8 configure the workflow, selected integrations, persona experience, policy-as-code guardrails, audit model and test scenarios. Weeks 9-12 run agreed scenarios with human-in-the-loop validation, measure value and control indicators, capture evidence and deliver the value realization report, prioritized backlog and scale roadmap. Approved actions can use simulation, tickets or workflow triggers, or limited write-back to explicitly approved endpoints. Autonomous flight dispatch, airworthiness release, flight-control decisions or other safety-critical authority are not included unless separately approved, certified and scoped.
Prove value now, create a path to scale and operate. The Focused Deployment is not an enterprise-wide rollout or ongoing managed service. It establishes reusable workflow, integration, policy, telemetry, evaluation and operating-model patterns. Based on the results, customers can separately scope production hardening, additional workflows and systems, broader deployment across fleets, hubs, airports, stations, routes, operating divisions or regions, and optional Kyndryl managed operations. Customers can also operate the capability themselves.
Work with the airline estate already in place. The offering integrates with customer-owned PSS and DCS, operations-control and flight-operations systems, crew management, MRO/EAM, aircraft and airport operational data, baggage, revenue management, CRM and customer care, cargo, weather and NOTAM, ITSM and data platforms rather than replacing them. The Focused Deployment is available through a custom AWS Marketplace private offer with negotiated scope, terms and pricing. AWS infrastructure, service consumption, foundation model usage, data services and third-party license charges are separate from Kyndryl professional services fees unless expressly included. Follow-on scale and operate services can be contracted separately from the Focused Deployment roadmap.
Highlights
- Prove one priority airline decision workflow in 12 weeks. Establish the baseline, redesign the human-and-AI workflow, connect up to three source systems, and validate agreed business and control measures.
- Govern action from the start. Define decision rights, human approval boundaries, policy-as-code controls, exception paths, telemetry, and audit evidence so AI recommendations can move safely toward approved execution.
- Build once, create a path to scale. Focused Deployment delivers reusable workflow, integration, policy, evaluation, and evidence patterns plus a prioritized roadmap for production expansion and optional Kyndryl managed operations.
